Enjoy vinyl without the need for a separate amplifier or speakers. The R517 combines a belt-drive turntable with four built-in speakers, an ATN-3600L stylus, 33⅓/45 RPM playback, Bluetooth® input, RCA output, and auto-stop in a classic wood-grain cabinet. Its integrated speaker system delivers clear, balanced sound for everyday listening, while the simple setup keeps the focus where it belongs, on the music.

Three-in-One, Ready for Vinyl

The R517 combines a turntable, amplifier, and built-in speakers in one complete system. No separate amplifier, speakers, or complicated setup required, giving you a simpler way to enjoy the full vinyl experience while keeping your space clean and focused on the music.

Built-in Four Speakers

The R517 features a 40W 2-way stereo system with two 15W woofers and two 5W tweeters. Tuned for Balanced Sound

Four spring-mounted points suspend and isolate the turntable mechanism from the cabinet, helping reduce vibration transfer and keeping the stylus tracking the groove more steadily for cleaner, more consistent playback.

A Balanced Sound Across the Frequency Range

The R517 delivers a 50Hz–20kHz frequency response with 88±3dB high-frequency and 85±3dB low-frequency sensitivity. The wide frequency range helps reproduce bass, vocals, and high-frequency detail with a balanced, natural presentation across your records.

Bluetooth Input for More Listening Options

Connect your phone or tablet within a 33 ft range and stream music directly from Spotify, Apple Music, or other apps through the R517’s built-in speakers.

Belt-Drive System for Stable Playback

The R517 uses a belt-driven system where the motor transfers power to the platter through a flexible drive belt. This helps isolate motor vibration from the platter, supporting smoother rotation and more stable stylus tracking.

Hand-Applied Wood-Grain Finish

The hand-applied wood-grain finish gives the R517 a warm vintage character, while black speaker grilles and gold accents complete its classic audio design.

ATN3600L Moving Magnet System

The stylus traces the record groove and transfers its movement to the moving magnet cartridge, where it is converted into an electrical audio signal. The conical stylus provides stable tracking and consistent playback across your vinyl collection.

Adjustable Counterweight

The counterweight balances the tonearm and adjusts the tracking force to 3.5 ± 0.5g, helping the stylus stay securely in the groove for consistent tracking, stable playback, and reduced wear.

S-Shaped Tonearm

The S-shaped design provides a balanced tonearm geometry for stable stylus tracking, while its classic profile adds a refined, vintage character to the turntable. The result is steady groove tracking with a distinctive look inspired by traditional hi-fi design.

Easy Knob Controls

Dedicated physical knobs give you direct, tactile control over volume and playback, while reinforcing the R517’s classic hi-fi character.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Retrolife R517 Vintage Record Player.
  • No. The R517 is an three-in-one record player with built-in 40W stereo speakers and a built-in phono preamp, so you can play vinyl right out of the box without a separate amplifier, receiver, or external speakers.

Its four-speaker system combines two 15W full-range speakers with two 5W tweeters, delivering a fuller and more balanced listening experience in one complete system.

  • No. The R517 supports Bluetooth input only.

This means your phone or tablet can send music to the R517, but the R517 cannot send vinyl audio wirelessly to Bluetooth speakers or Bluetooth headphones.

If you want to connect external audio equipment, use the RCA output.

  • When properly balanced and used according to the recommended settings, the R517 is designed for safe everyday vinyl playback.

It uses an Audio-Technica AT3600L MM cartridge, adjustable tracking force, and a belt-drive system to provide stable groove tracking.

The recommended tracking force is 3.5 ± 0.5g.

Always make sure the tonearm is properly balanced and the tracking force is correctly adjusted before playing records.

  • Yes. The R517 features an automatic stop function.

When Auto Stop is enabled, the platter stops automatically after the record finishes playing, helping prevent the stylus from continuing to track the end groove unnecessarily.

The tonearm remains in position and should be manually lifted and returned to its rest after playback.

  • Skipping can happen for several reasons, including incorrect tracking force, an improperly installed belt or platter, an uneven surface, a dirty or damaged record, or an incorrectly installed stylus.

    1. The stylus skips repeatedly at the same spot
If the stylus always skips at the same position on a record, the record may be scratched, warped, dirty, or damaged.

Solution: Clean the record and try playing the same section again. If it still skips at exactly the same spot, test another clean record.

    2. The stylus skips across different records
If skipping occurs with multiple clean records, the issue is more likely related to the turntable setup, tracking force, or stylus.

Solution: Make sure the turntable is placed on a stable, level surface. Then check that the tonearm is properly balanced and the tracking force is set within the recommended 3.5 ± 0.5g range. Also check that the stylus is properly installed and free from dust or debris.

    3. The stylus skips when the record is slightly warped
A warped record can cause the tonearm to move up and down excessively, which may result in skipping.

Solution: Test another flat record. If other records play normally, the issue is likely related to the warped record rather than the turntable.

    4. The stylus skips near the beginning or end of the record
If skipping mainly occurs near the outer or inner grooves, check the tracking force and stylus installation first.

Solution: Recheck the tonearm balance and make sure the tracking force is within the recommended 3.5 ± 0.5g range. Make sure the stylus is securely installed and correctly positioned.

How to Tell Whether the Problem Is the Record, Stylus, or Turntable?

The easiest way to identify the source is to test another clean record.

    • Only one record skips: The record is likely dirty, scratched, or warped.
    • Several records skip in the same way: Check the stylus, tonearm balance, tracking force, and turntable setup.
    • Skipping continues with multiple clean records after the setup is confirmed: The stylus or turntable may require further inspection.

Before troubleshooting further, always place your record player on a stable, level surface and make sure the stylus is clean and properly installed.

Works Great!

This turntable record player works great! I love the vintage look of the black and brown - it gives off a fun retro vibe. I also love the sleek shape of the box and the S-curve arm. It looks great in my living room and manages to combine the vintage feel with a modern aesthetic. The built-in speaker makes the record player quick and easy to set up and start using. I think the speaker sounds great and I am not planning on hooking up extra speakers. The player offers 2 different speeds - 33 and 45. It also features an auto turn-off so that you don't scratch your records after it finishes.

If you have a record collection at home or want to start one, this record player is a great starting point. It is a fairly affordable option for beginners and doesn't take up a lot of space. I am very pleased with it and think it would make a great gift for anyone.

Great sound!

Got this for a friend for Christmas and they loved it. Now I want one for myself after listening to it. Even from two rooms away it had great sound quality and the built in speakers work just fine on their own. Didn’t hook any separate speakers to it. Recommend it!

Looks great, sounds great. Perfect for the space. It's not SUPER loud but the sound quality is good - I live in an apartment so anything louder would probably kerfuffle my neighbors anyways. I love it so far!

IĄŻm newer to the vinyl world and my first turntable was just some cheapo suitcase one, but since my record collection is growing I figured it was time to upgrade my setup. I wanted to find something within budget, had good sound quality, built-in speakers, and was aesthetically pleasing. This turntable is a great bang for your buck!! I love the walnut finish and vintage look it has. I only really have my old one to compare to, but the sound difference is like night & day! Some of my albums that were skipping before no longer do so with this one.IĄŻve been listening to my records all day and so far IĄŻm VERY pleased.

Happy with this purchase.

I did a lot of research !This was a birthday gift for an 18 yo who will be going to college in the fall, so I was looking for specific things - e.g., turntable stops at end. The only thing I didn’t get was an audio plug in for headphones - but we bought the necessary accessories. It was simple to set up, has great sound and my nephew is happy.

5 star

I'm so thrilled with this record player the sound is fantastic and it was easy to put it together meaning the lid and just clips right on.

It was also fast shipping.

The metal clip was very tough to get off the table inorder to get to the bet. That would be the only negative if you need to hange the bet

Over all this is a 5 star in my book

Realy love this record player. I was very skeptical about the built in speaker sound quality, but as I was very limited on space (one bookcase shelf) i decided to risk it and buy. My friend who is an audiophile was visiting and said “wow im shocked at how good it sounds”. Its not going to shake your house down, but it really does sound good for its size. The added bonus of blutooth is so nice when i dont feel like changing out records. I absolutely love this purchase!!
