If your Retrolife T15 record player has low volume or no sound, start with the basics. Check the volume, mute setting, playback mode, and connection first. Then follow the section for the source you are using.
Basic Checks
Before troubleshooting a specific mode, check these items.
- Make sure the T15 is powered on.
- Turn up the T15 volume.
- Make sure Mute is not enabled.
- Confirm the correct playback mode is selected.
- If using Bluetooth, check that the correct Bluetooth mode is selected.
- If using external speakers, check the speaker connection and input.
If the problem only happens with one source, continue with the corresponding section below.
Vinyl Has No Sound or Low Sound
If the record is spinning but the sound is too quiet or there is no sound, check the following.
Check the stylus
Make sure the stylus is correctly installed and not damaged. A loose or damaged stylus can cause very low volume or poor sound.
Check the tonearm
Make sure the tonearm is properly lowered and the stylus is touching the record groove.
Check the record
Try another record. A damaged or poorly pressed record can cause playback problems.
Check the mode
Make sure the T15 is in PHONO mode when playing a record.
If several records have the same problem, contact Retrolife support for further assistance.
CD Has No Sound or Low Sound
If the CD is playing but there is no sound.
- Make sure the T15 is in CD mode.
- Check the volume and mute setting.
- Make sure the CD is readable and properly positioned.
- Try another CD to rule out a disc problem.
- If the CD is not reading at all, clean the disc with a soft lint free cloth and try again.
If other CDs work normally, the original disc may be damaged or incompatible.
Cassette Has No Sound or Low Sound
If the cassette is playing but the sound is weak or missing.
- Make sure the T15 is in TAPE mode.
- Check that the cassette is inserted correctly.
- Try another cassette.
- Check whether the tape is damaged or badly worn.
- If the cassette sounds muffled, the tape head may need cleaning.
Older cassette tapes can naturally lose sound quality over time.
Bluetooth Input Has No Sound
Bluetooth Input allows you to play music from a phone, tablet, or computer through the T15 speakers.
If your device is connected but there is no sound.
- Make sure the T15 is in BT Input mode.
- Check the Bluetooth connection on your phone.
- Turn up both the device volume and T15 volume.
- Check that your phone is sending audio to the T15.
- Pause and restart playback.
- Disconnect and reconnect the Bluetooth connection if necessary.
Try another audio app to determine whether the issue is related to the app or Bluetooth connection.
Bluetooth Output Has No Sound
Bluetooth Output allows the T15 to send audio to a compatible Bluetooth speaker or headphones.
If the connected Bluetooth device has no sound.
- Make sure the T15 is in BT Output mode.
- Make sure the Bluetooth speaker or headphones are powered on.
- Put the Bluetooth device into pairing mode.
- Confirm that the T15 is connected to the correct device.
- Turn up the volume on both the T15 and the connected device.
- Make sure the playback source is actually playing.
Remember, Bluetooth Input and Bluetooth Output are separate modes and cannot be used at the same time.
